Just when we think that we’ve seen all the best wedding venues, a new one pops up and blows us away!
This weekend we were at Dartington Hall, near Totnes in Devon for Alicia & Peter’s wedding – set at the heart of an extensive 1200-acre estate, surrounded by exquisite gardens, a group of magnificent Grade 1 listed buildings encircle a spectacular courtyard, this is the largest medieval house in the West of England — and possibly one of the most romantic wedding venues in the South West.
But this is much more than a hotel or country house. Dartington Hall is proud to be a certified social enterprise venue. Their Social Enterprise Mark certification shows that they have undergone rigorous independent assessment to prove that their profits are used to make society a better place by creating social value. All profits go to The Dartington Hall Trust and its work in The Arts, Sustainability and Social Justice.
Already a stunning venue, the bride and groom and their guests all commented on how wonderful our lights were and how much they added to the splendour of the venue and the occasion!
Party Lights are always pleased to be involved in eco-friendly projects so were really interested when we were contacted about supplying lights for a wedding being held in one of the barns at Splattenridden Farm near St Ives in Cornwall and taking place tomorrow.
This venue is also the base for a local, family-run business called “The Green Waste Company” which provides a first class service and a wide range of options to meet waste and recycling needs. The Green Waste Company recycle large quantities of wood and green waste and are among the first of the waste handling companies in the UK to achieve Compost Association Accreditation.
Having a party in these simple surroundings with their green ethos meant that the bride and groom were obviously looking for lighting effects that would remain true to these principles and what better effects could we give them than our simple light bulb canopy as mentioned in our previous post.
What started out as a trendy “London thing”, this popular line is now making its way across the country. We would love to hear what you think.
The majority of venue function rooms and halls usually have the basic fluorescent or recessed bright lights. These are adequate for meetings, seminars and groups but when it comes to special occasions they tend to lack atmosphere and require help and imagination to create that unique and special ambience for you and your guests to enjoy. Photographs and video will also look that much more professional.
Here at Party Lights we are happy to suggest the best effects for the individual venues and we appreciate that sometimes you may want to just “keep it simple”. How about a Light Bulb Canopy – Traditional tungsten bulbs hung at intervals with random drops and dimmable?
Here at Party Lights we like nothing better than to receive feedback from the installations we have done. A happy customer is very important as we like to think we make a difference to the overall success of the day.
Our most recent testimonial comes from the previous blog post about the Blue Bar and we were delighted to receive this note from the happy bride:
Firstly a big thank you for the lights on Sunday. They were simply amazing – a complete show-stopper. Everyone said the room looked beautiful and it really did. I was completely thrilled with it.
Set on the north Cornish coast and adjacent to the world famous ‘Blue Bar’ in Porthtowan, is the contemporary beach-side wedding venue called ‘the boardroom”. Fully licensed for both wedding ceremonies and receptions as well as civil ceremonies, blessings, vow renewal and life partnerships.
With huge windows and doors opening out onto a private terrace, you can enjoy the spectacular views over the beach out to the North Atlantic, whether you are inside or out.
Party Lights were there this weekend to provide the lighting effects for a wedding taking place on Sunday afternoon, adding to the romantic atmosphere this unique venue provides.
As regular readers of this Blog will know, Party Lights are always delighted to receive testimonials from our clients who are happy with our effects at their venues.
Here’s a message we’ve received this week from a happy client following their wedding reception in the Corn Barn at St Olaves, near Cullompton in Devon. We also think their photos are stunning and would love your feedback on here too!
These are the three pictures that I have at the moment that show the lights in the barn, when the professional photos come back I will email you their photos as I’m sure they’ll be better.
Thank you again, they really did make the place look so gorgeous and magical.
If you’re looking to create that extra special mood for your function, take a look at just some of the effects that Party Lights can create for you to give the wow factor that your guests will be talking about for years to come!
